Love Editing? Visit The Art of the Guillotine!

If you haven’t visited The Art of the Guillotine yet click the link and bookmark the site immediately.

What you’ll find on AOTG is the absolute best of the web as far as editing is concerned.  The site is constantly being updated with articles about software, techniques, tips, tutorials, opinions, videos and more.  I guarantee you WILL find something worth reading every single time you visit the site.  I do.

Thanks to founder Gordon Burkell, I got an early look at their brand new app for iPhone which was released TODAY.  It’s awesome.  I can’t be the only nerd on the planet who isn’t thrilled to have new editing articles at my fingertips wherever I happen to be.  All the articles are organized in an easy to read format so you’ll always have something interesting to read when the grocery lines are enormous.

You can follow this link and download the AOTG app yourself.

If you don’t have an iOS device, an Android version is on the way as well.  Regardless, if you love editing, you’ll love The Art of the Guillotine.

My Favorite Directors & Star Wars

Why Christopher Nolan Loves Star Wars | Movie Blog

Christopher Nolan is by far my favorite director and recently, this little video was released revealing his thoughts on Star Wars.

After I found that video, I decided to look into some more of my favorite directors.

Did you know R2D2 is in J.J Abrams’ Star Trek?

Just because, here is an in depth interview with J.J included some thoughts on the similarities between Star Trek and Star Wars.  (Courtesy of Hero Complex)

Before Christopher Nolan took over, M. Night Shyamalan was my favorite director.  He may not be the champ anymore but I still adore Signs.  However, there are some comparisons between Shyamalan and George Lucas.

In my travels I also came across From Star Wars to Jedi: The Making of a Saga.

Then I got distracted even further when I stumbled across The 10 Most Badass Fan-Made Lightsabre duels over at Unreality.

Back on track, Zak Snyder enjoys Unicorn Yoda cake?

David Fincher was an assistant cameraman on Return of the Jedi!?

Of course I’m missing a ton of directors like Martin Scorsese, Ridley Scott, Peter Jackson, Francis Ford Coppola and more that I adore but how could I leave out Lucas’ pal Steven Spielberg?  Did you know he wept at a screening of Episode 3?

I could probably spend days looking up interesting references to Star Wars.  Have any hidden gems?

Alternate Realities & Fantasy Movie Worlds | Movie Blog

Today’s POST is all about new worlds.  Inspired by the return of the amazing Fringe, IGN has posted a list of the best alternate realities on television.

I have to say I’m biased and have to say Fringe is my favorite alternate reality… That’s mainly because I’m right in the middle of season 2 and I’m completely obsessed with that show.

A while back IGN also published the Top 25 Fantasy Movies of All-Time which include some of the best worlds ever realized on film.

We all love escaping into world’s like Pandora, Middle Earth and Tatooine.  Likewise, there’s nothing like a well developed alternate reality like the one featured on Fringe or Back to the Future for that matter.  It’s what makes film and television so much fun to discover.
