I didn’t even have to think about this one. The movie may still be fresh in my mind but there is no doubting the amazing Heath Ledger and his portrayal of:
The Dark Knight’s Joker is one of the best villains of all time. The result of an extremely well written character and the performance of a lifetime.
How do you go about reinventing one of the greatest comic book villains ever? Christopher Nolan’s vision of The Joker was dark, sinister and completely perfect for the world he developed for Batman. When he cast Heath Ledger in the role, nobody knew what to expect. Then the images started to leak and we got a teaser trailer featuring The Joker’s evil laugh.
I waited 3 hours in line on opening day to see the midnight screening. I was at a 3pm showing later that day.
He’s completely fascinating to watch.
Heath Ledger is an amazing actor and it’s truly tragic that we will never see him bring another character to life. What an incredible performance.
From a screenwriting stand point, they knocked it out of the park. I read the screenplay a while back and it’s amazing. If you’re an aspiring screenwriter and you want to learn how to write a script with nuance and an unforgettable amount of detail, look no further. No wonder DC gave Christopher Nolan the keys to the universe. Having him on board any project makes it better.
When it comes to the best villains of all time, some may disagree that The Joker belongs in the number 1 spot. However, I guarantee you he’ll be a part of every single one of those conversations.
