I love dogs. I’m think they are the most entertaining and fascinating animals on the planet. So much personality. Always happy to see you.
Whenever I’m around dogs, I can’t help but wonder what they are thinking. Most of the time, I give them a voice and say it out loud. It’s often funny (and annoying perhaps) but it’s a curiosity I’ve had for a long time.
Enter the movie industry. There are literally billions of movies out there that feature talking animals. 900,000+ of those are about dogs.
For me, it all began with:
The Adventures of Milo & Otis
I still can’t watch this clip without laughing.
Otis is hands down one of the best talking dogs ever.
Today, most dogs in movies have moving mouths and voices but Milo & Otis didn’t have that luxory. I believe it’s an advantage. Dudley Moore narrates for both title characters in this classic. As you may have guessed, I’m a fan of Otis the Pug.
Milo & Otis is the type of movie that sticks with you. A perfect movie for kids and frankly the kids who grew up with it.
It’s a simple story about friendship featuring one of the best ‘talking’ dogs of all time.
PS: I’m pretty great friends with a dog named Mylo. Big fan of that little guy.
