When it comes to movies, we all have favorites that we love to watch this time of year.
Whether it’s Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Carol, The Grinch or any other popular Christmas films you know that once December hits, you HAVE to watch them.
I’ve taken it one step further.
Not only do I have a list of Christmas films I enjoy around the holidays but there are also non Christmas themed films I enjoy.
For example: I got the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings films every year at Christmas. There isn’t a jingle bell in those films but I always tend to watch them around Christmas. I watched them all a week ago.
There are many more but one in particular stood out as my all time favorite non Christmas… Christmas movie.
12 Angry Men
What a random and strange pick you say?
I remember seeing the remake with Tony Danza in high school. I loved it. Years later, I ordered the original version from 1957 on DVD and I’ve been watching it once a year ever since.
It’s an incredible film.
For those who haven’t seen it, 12 Angry Men is about a jury deliberating the case of a young boy accused of murder. The entire movie takes place in one room and it’s still one of the most gripping and interesting movies I’ve ever seen.
The powerful film is about prejudice, misconception, intolerance, race, anger, stereotyping and many other unfortunate issues.
I think I associate this film with Christmas because you should be reminded that those issues are still very real in this world.
Kindness and understanding should have a place in everyone’s heart.
A perfect non Christmas… Christmas movie.
PS: I love old school trailers like this. Outstanding.
