Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Secret of the Ooze…
If there ever was a movie that had a guaranteed place in my heart it was TMNT 2. I grew up with the comics, games, cartoons and action figures.
Those were MY heroes and I knew the universe inside and out.
I can’t even begin to explain how many hours I spent setting up gigantic and epic battles with those action figures. (I still have them.)
When the first movie was released, I was probably the happiest kid on the planet. After that, I spent days outside with my custom Donatello staff fighting invisible members of the foot clan. (I probably looked like a dork but who cares I was in a war!)
Each and every person who loved Transformers, G.I Joe, He-Man, Ninja Turtles and more know exactly what I’m talking about.
These worlds fueled our imaginations.
They were special.
When part 2 came out, I loved it before I even saw it.
Because when you are that young, you don’t really notice certain… Outrages.

Why didn’t they go with Bebop and Rocksteady?
It’s going to be a debate for as long as I live. I’m not naive… Bebop and Rocksteady might have been a complete disaster on the big screen. I’m sure the filmmakers had good reasons not to include them in the film.
However, even if they looked awful wouldn’t we have loved the movie regardless?
Would it be any better (or worse depending on how you look at it) than this?
“Babies! They are… Babies!”
I get it though. Back then, CG effects didn’t allow for many treasured characters to make it to the screen. There was zero chance we were going to get a Turtles movie featuring Crang.
But… Like I said, I was going to love the movie either way. It’s Ninja Turtles!
Yet I can’t help I wonder what it would have been like with a couple familiar mutants. I suppose we’ll never know.
It might have been awesome.
