Movies That Scarred Me For Life: The Complete Series | Movie Blog

I don’t think there is a movie fan on the planet that doesn’t have a list like this. Movies that scarred you for life. Most people immediately think of the horror movies that kept them up at night. I’m sure statistically, horror movies make up 90% of the films that send chills up your spine when you think about them. This series was always about more than just horror films. Even Disney movies can have a lasting affect on you for all the wrong reasons. Beyond that, there are also the movies that absolutely disappoint you so much that you can’t bare to watch them again. Movies that literally anger you because you expected so much more.

Combined, this series looked at everything from Spiders to bad sequels.

Movies That Scarred Me For Life: Arachnophobia | Movie Blog

Movies that scarred me for life is all about the movies that keep you up at night.  The horrors you just can’t seem to get out of your head.  But beyond the monsters, ghosts, slashers and aliens, there are also the cringe worthy films you wish you never saw.  Movies that made you wish you had the lost two hours of your life back.  There are tons of ways a movie can scar you for life.  This series will look at 12 of my personal favorites.

Arachnophobia

Movies That Scarred Me For Life: Arachnophobia

I.  Hate.  Spiders.

I always have.  I wouldn’t go as far as declaring myself Arachnophobic but I’m close.

Whenever I see one of those stupid eight legged demons from hell I completely freeze. I can’t move and I’m known to shriek in a girlish way…  I pretty much have to admit to that because there have been witnesses.

The way they move scares the hell out of me and I’ve lost sleep thinking about those little jerks crawling in my mouth while I’m sleeping.

It could happen!

As far back as I can remember I’ve been frightened of spiders but Arachnophobia basically eradicated any shot I had of getting over it.

I’ve only seen the movie once when I was much younger and surrounded by friends who laughed at me the entire time.

I wanted to go home.

To this day, I check the shower curtain and the ceiling every time I take a shower.  I never, NEVER forget to check.

If you’ve seen the film then you’ll understand why I don’t even want to explain why I do that.  I’ve had nightmares about every single scene that involves one of those crawling ass faces…

There was a time when I couldn’t even go to bed without scanning all of my covers thoroughly.

A few years ago, I bought the movie on DVD.  It seems strange to purchase a movie that changed my sleeping habits forever but I intend to cure myself one day.

When that day comes, I’ll give the film another shot.   John Goodman was hilarious as the exterminator.

Someday I’ll get the guts to revisit this horrible, horrible movie but it’s unlikely as long as I continue to run away from those damn insects!

10 Flicks: Awesome Horror Comedies

10 Flicks: Awesome Horror Comedies

A few weeks ago, I was right in the middle of a debate at work. The argument began when myself and a friend expressed our excitement for Hatchet 2.

A few people who had seen the first Hatchet disagreed.  Essentially, the conflict could be summed up with one question:

Are movies like Hatchet any good?

In order to answer that question, Team Hatchet came up with a list of Horror Comedies and the cult following they have achieved.

Admittedly, horror comedies are only for certain audiences who appreciate them.  Happily, I’m one of them.

Here are the 10 of the best:

Evil Dead

Bruce Campbell.  You can’t talk about horror comedies without mentioning Ash and his adventures in the Evil Dead trilogy.

Evil Dead 2

Sam Raimi is awesome.  That is all.

Arachnophobia

Spiders literally paralyze me with fear.  Once a year, I make a trip to the zoo just to dare myself to look into the Black Widow cage.  I regret it every time.

This movie scared me more than any other movie I can think of except THIS

Critters

Second only to Gremlins as my favorite ‘Little Monster’ movie.

Tremors

I’m not a fan of the follow up films but this one has stuck with me over the years.

Slither

“What kind of thing wants you to eat it!”  I laughed out loud several times during this flick.

Hatchet

The movie that started the debate.  By no means is it the greatest horror movie of all time but it’s definitely among the best tributes to horror.  Director Adam Green is a massive fan and his knowledge of the genre bleeds through this instant fan favorite.

Zombieland

A new addition to my horror comedy collection but a welcome one as well.

Gremlins

The first movie I thought of.  One of the classics.

Shaun Of The Dead

Easily my favorite movie on this list.  Changed the way I’ll look at movies forever.
