10 Flicks: Awesome Movies To Look Forward to in 2010

The summer movie season was a bit of a let down for me.  I freely admit, I didn’t get out to see that many movies but there really weren’t many MUST see movies out there.  I had some opportunities to see films like Robin Hood, A-Team, The Expendables and Machete but I just couldn’t get excited enough to go.

“I’ll catch them on DVD or OnDemand.”

The ones I did see weren’t really the game changing summer movies I’ve come to adore.  INCEPTION came along at a time when we all needed an incredible and original summer blockbuster but it stands alone this year.

If you were to ask me today what my top 5 films of 2010 are thus far my list would look like this:

  1. Inception
  2. Toy Story 3
  3. TBD
  4. TBD
  5. TBD

Dear First 9 Months Of The Year… Ouch.

However, 2010 seems to be mounting a come back with a ton of must-see movies on the way.  The next few months will see studios release their big guns and Oscar contenders and I’ll definitely be in theaters for as many as possible.

The following list may not include 10 definite Oscar picks but they will be entertaining.  (At least I hope they are.)

Here are my top 10 2010 movies to look forward to:

Unstoppable

Skyline

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows Part 1

Buried

Hereafter

127 Hours

Paranormal Activity 2

Monsters

The Town

The Social Network

PS: It’s pretty hard to find videos on Youtube without ADs now. I tried.

10 Flicks: Movies That Make Me Hungry

I was at a wedding a few weeks ago and a friend of mine was talking about his love of the movie Goonies.  More specifically, how watching the movie makes him crave Pizza.

He turned to me and said that I should write a post called: Movies that make me want to eat pizza.

It was a great idea but I decided to expand it slightly as the post title suggests.

Here are 10 movies that make me hungry:

Ratatouille

Pasta

Food lovers must adore this movie!  This one is a no brainer.

10 Flicks: A Different Kind Of Movie List

Today is the 9 month anniversary of The Athletic Nerd.

In that time, I’ve written 273 posts that have earned over 10,000 visits from all over the world and more than 15,000 page views.

Note: I don’t know if that’s good or not but considering this blog is 273 days old…  I’d say I’m posting pretty regularly.

I’m extremely proud of the way this site has developed and evolved over time.  It’s an amazing outlet that allows me to write about the movies I love and the movies I love to make everyday.

While I write a ton of posts about 17 West Productions, screenwriting and filmmaking, I’ve always made sure to include posts about the movies that inspire me.

Through features like What!?, Rainy Sundays and 10 Flicks, I have that opportunity.  These posts have been my number 1 source of traffic.

So to celebrate 9 months of blogging, I’ve decided to dedicate a post to the most successful feature on my blog:

10 Flicks

When I first started, I didn’t want to post regular Top 10 count downs.  I wanted my lists to truly reflect the kind of movie fan I am and the films I love to watch.  These lists are designed to cause conversations, not arguments over rankings etc…

For those who haven’t seen them yet, here are the lists I’ve created so far:

There’s a lot more on the way including top secret NEW features I’m planning to launch…
