Why I CAN’T Watch The Final Man of Steel Trailer

Why I CAN'T Watch The Final Man of Steel Trailer | Trailer 4 General Zod

AN EPIC NEW TRAILER HAS ARRIVED…  BUT I CAN’T ALLOW MYSELF TO PRESS PLAY

The marketing team behind Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel has done a remarkable job selling the film to audiences.  They sold me after the teaser trailer was released.  Actually, I was probably on board the moment they announced the keys to the franchise were handed to Christopher Nolan.

Little by little, they released epic posters, astonishing images and incredible trailers.  Indeed, Superman is in good hands and I can’t wait for his return to the big screen.

THE BEST SUPERMAN MOVIE EVER?

Time will tell if the latest and easily the most ambitious Superman movie will take it’s place alongside the best superhero movies of all time.  I’m willing to bet it will but something funny happened when they released the latest and presumably final trailer.

I couldn’t bring myself to watch it! I’ve analyzed nearly every Man of Steel trailer they’ve released thus far yet I couldn’t press play.

Honestly, I’m already excited enough for this movie and this new trailer is apparently action packed…

I DON’T NEED TO SEE ANYTHING MORE..  BRING ON THE MOVIE

A while back, I wrote about how major movie villains are revealed in the social media age.  How much information is too much?  Star Trek Into Darkness did a wonderful job disguising a major twist involving the villain.  It was nice to see some information held back.

In regards to Man of Steel, the first 3 trailers did a phenomenal job of showing off the film without giving too much away.  (Including the villainous General Zod) I think that’s why I’m avoiding the fourth trailer.  This is my chance to step back from the marketing and simply wait for the film to come out.  Still, it’s very difficult to avoid this new trailer especially when my favorite sites raved about it:

“We all thought there was no way a trailer could top the last one director Zack Snyder provided us for Man of Steel. At three minutes, even its length was epic. And the action it showed was pure, ass-kicking Superman.  The latest trailer (number four, if you count the teasers as one) is shorter than the previous one but, somehow jam-packed with even more spectacle.” (/FILM)

“While previous trailers focused on the coming-of-age tale of a Kryptonian stranded on Earth and the love between a son and his father, this new cut is chock full of dread, evidenced by Superman drowning in a mountain of skulls.” (Collider)

“Zod narrates this newest trailer, full of never before seen footage. One feeling I get from watching it is that Zod is a very real threat, which is great because Superman is going to kick his ass.” (Geek Tyrant)

“If anything, this trailer puts to rest any doubts that Man of Steel will be anything other than epic. Unlike some previous Superman movies, it looks as if the world’s greatest superhero will be taking on a threat that’s on a scale commensurate with his powers.” (Screen Rant)

I wake up ever morning, read movie news and watch the latest trailers.  Not pressing play is hard but we’re less than a month away from what looks like an unforgettable blockbuster event.  A Superman movie unlike anything we’ve ever seen before.  Man of Steel!

All Time Best: Best Movie Trailer 2012

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE TRAILER OF 2012?

I wake up every morning with the hope that another big trailer has arrived.  It doesn’t happen every day but it’s always exciting when it does.  No matter what type of movie the trailer is promoting, I can’t resist hitting play.  I love trailers.

Selecting the best trailer of any given year is tough with so many standouts in 2012.  For me, (with respect to Skyfall) it came down to two:

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES TRAILER #3

REVIEW | The Dark Knight Rises | Top 5 Moments: The Dark Knight Rises Trailer #3

Of all the trailers for The Dark Knight Rises, this one was my favorite.  Everything from the opening score to the frantic finale was amazing.  I’m still having trouble accepting the end of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.  However, I think that’s why my favorite trailer of 2012 is…

MAN OF STEEL TRAILER #2

All Time Best: Best Movie Trailer 2012 | Man of Steel Trailer #2

It’s time to get excited for Christopher Nolan’s NEXT franchise.  (Or at least a franchise he’s heavily involved in) I was absolutely blown away by the Man of Steel trailer.  Director Zack Snyder looks to have truly delivered a Superman we’ve all been craving for decades. (Sorry Superman Returns but it’s true)

I absolutely adore the tone of this trailer and we FINALLY got some great looks at Henry Cavill as Superman.

Top 5 Moments: Man of Steel Trailer #2 | Superman 2013

This is hands down one of the biggest events of 2013 and certainly one of my most anticipated summer movies.  It’s safe to say I don’t need much more convincing after a powerful trailer like this.

Congratulations Man of Steel.  You’ve made it a lot easier to get over the end of The Dark Knight Legend.

THE SECOND MAN OF STEEL TRAILER HAS ARRIVED!

“My father believed if the world found out who I really was they’d reject me.  He was convinced that the world wasn’t ready.  What do you think?”

I’m ready.  Next summer is truly shaping up to be pretty damn fantastic isn’t it?  Check out my top 10 2013 summer movies here.

This trailer has everything you could ask for.  Action.  Character moments.  SUPERMAN!  Plus glimpses of all major characters including Zod played by Michael Shannon & Amy Adams as Lois Lane.  My biggest complaint about Bryan Singer’s Superman Returns was the action.  There just wasn’t enough Superman being Superman.  Man of Steel will definitely not suffer from a lack of epic Superman Moments.

5. YOUNG CLARK KENT TO THE RESCUE

A very cool shot showing a Smallville bus facing certain doom.  Except Clark Kent saves the day!  What I love the most about this moment is what it means to the story.  Right after this moment we are given a scene between Jonathan Kent (Kevin Costner) and Clark talking about keeping his powers a secret and what that means.

It’s a crucial moment that comes full circle as the trailer ends.

4. CLARK KENT ON FIRE

Fire doesn’t affect the Man of Steel!  Holy crap this movie is going to be awesome.

Top 5 Moments: Man of Steel Trailer #2 | Superman 2013

3. CITY DESTRUCTION

Not a lot is known about Man of Steel’s plot but whatever it is, it involves a ton of explosions and destruction.  Check out this image and tell me it’s won’t be a blast watching Superman save the day.

2. SUPERMAN FLIES IN SPACE

There he is…  Looking awesome whilst flying in space.

Top 5 Moments: Man of Steel Trailer #2 | Superman 2013

1. THE CAPE.  THE FORTRESS.  THE LEGEND

“You just have to decide the kind of man you want to grow up to be Clark. Whoever that man is, he’s going to change the world.”

I think Kevin Costner is going to be incredible as Jonathan Kent.  This whole sequence gave me chills.  I love the slow motion cape, the wide shots, the snowy landscapes, the voice over & the music…  THE MAN OF STEEL!

10 Flicks: Alien Weaknesses

10 Flicks: Strange Ways To Kill Movie Aliens | Top 10 Strange Ways To Kill An Alien | Movie Blog

GUNS AND GIANT BOMBS
ARE NOT ALWAYS THE ANSWER

Thousands of Aliens have invaded big screens around the world.  There are countless stories of vicious species determined to kill us but also lovable beings that touched our hearts.

Regardless, there is always someone who wants to take them out.  Most of the time, humans call in the big guns, tanks and jets to do the dirty work but there are instances when guns aren’t the answer.

Sometimes, the key to everything lies in a very simple and unexpected solution.  However, it’s important to remember that not all Aliens are evil.  Who would want to use E.T’s home sickness against him?  That’s mean.

Here are 10 of the best Alien weaknesses.

Space Jam
Basketball

Sometimes, defeating Aliens is just a matter of challenging them to competitive game of basketball and recruiting his royal Airness. (Oh and Bill Murray too.)

Pitch Black
Light

What are the odds that a prisoner who can only see in the dark finds himself on a planet with horrible monsters who only come out at night?  Furthermore, what are the odds this prisoner would find himself on this planet juuuuuuust when a solar eclipse goes down?  Bring on the light.

Mars Attacks
Music/Yodeling

These fierce Martians are no match for the Indian Love Call.

War of the Worlds
Bacteria

Like Signs, I feel like this species should have done more research before invading our planet.  You have to do your research!

Men In Black 2: Ballchinian
Balls

It’s bad enough getting kicked in the groin but getting chin punched in the ball throat?  Now THAT’S a weakness.

Spider-Man 3: Venom
Sound

The space goop’s only weakness lies high on the decibel meter.  Bells, gongs and other loud noises work nicely.  In this case, a series of metal pipes arranged in a circular xylophone type formation.

E.T
Home Sickness

He just wants to go home!

Signs
Water

These Aliens were taking one hell of a risk invading Earth to harvest us.  I don’t know if they noticed but there is a lot of water here.

Independence Day
Computer Virus

Technologically advanced Alien civilizations have no answer for Jeff Goldblum’s quick thinking and hacking skills.

Superman
Kryptonite

Arguably the most famous fictional Alien of all time is seemingly invincible except for a certain green rock.

Perhaps Alien strengths will be the next list…

10 Flicks: Awesome Upcoming Superhero Movies

10 Flicks: Incredible Upcoming Superhero Movies

I believe we are entering a Golden Age for superhero movies.

There are so many incredible films on the way with loads of potential.

How good are the upcoming superhero movies?

Here are 10 of the biggest and best.  Check them out and count how many you’re looking forward to.

*Be sure to come back as I will be updating this page with new images and trailers as they are released.*

Thor

Thor. Upcoming superhero movies 2011

Thor is probably my least anticipated film on this list because I really don’t know that much about the character.  However, Thor has a giant role to play in the upcoming Avengers movie so I’m definitely interested in learning more.  Part of me truly hopes it turns out to be a bad ass action adventure.

The first trailer has been released!  I’m officially pumped to see this movie.

The super bowl spot unleashes more action!

Cowboys & Aliens

The first poster for the film has been released and it looks amazing!

It looks like John Favreau and co. are unleashing one hell of an entertaining film next summer.

X-Men: First Class

Hardcore fans of Bryan Singer’s X-Men may not be so eager to embrace this reboot but I am.  I’m not sure what to expect from this adaptation but I’m a massive fan of the source material.  Plus I have enormous faith in Matthew Vaughn.  Kick ass was fantastic.

x men first class movie magneto

The Green Hornet

This movie sounded extremely strange when I first heard about it.  Could Seth Rogen really be a superhero? After seeing the first trailer, I believe the answer is yes.  He is a different kind of superhero but it still looks like an entertaining movie.

The Amazing Spider-Man

First look at Andrew Garfield as spider-man

[UPDATE] The first official image of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man has hit the web!  I have to say it looks pretty damn sweet!

The first two Spider-Man movies are among the best superhero movies of all time. Understandably, it was time to inject some new life into the franchise and I actually think that rebooting with a younger Peter Parker is the right way to go.

My only real concern is whether or not the filmmakers can balance the inevitable high school drama with decent action sequences. I’m already sold on Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man and now that we know he will face off against The Lizard, I’m even more excited about the possibilities.

Check out this amazing image of Andrew Garfield in costume with the legendary mask on!

The Amazing Spiderman Andrew Garfield superhero movie

Captain America: The First Avenger

Captain America looks awesome | Poster

Captain America is in the same category as Thor.  I don’t know too much about him but I’m extremely interested in how Marvel will tie all of their big franchises together.  If the movie is half as good as the image above we are in for one hell of a show.

Superbowl commercial…  I gotta say the shot with Cap running through a forest in the middle of battle was amazing.  So was Red Skulls reveal.  Still I wasn’t blown away by the spot.

Green Lantern

Green lantern ryan reynolds 2011 superhero movie

Ryan Reynolds is definitely on a huge roll right now. Every single Green Lantern image that I’ve seen has been amazing.

Now that the trailer has been unleashed, I have to say it does look pretty damn entertaining.

Check out the first 4 minutes from the film.

The Avengers

The Avengers upcoming superhero movie 2012

Did anyone ever think this film would have come together the way it did?

Count the superstars on that stage.  It’s truly remarkable what Marvel has done with their superhero franchises.

This is probably the riskiest film on this list as the amount of hype surrounding this movie is enormous.

It’s going to be extremely challenging to deliver something entertaining with that many heroes on the screen.

Again it all comes down to the story. They definitely have the star power but it’s up to Joss Whedon and his team to come up with something worthy of one of the best ensembles in history.

Whether they nail it or not, The Avengers is going to rewrite the superhero movie forever.

I can’t wait to watch Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and The Avengers ‘marathon style’.

Unreal…

NOTE: This film isn’t released until 2012 but I didn’t think it would hurt to update it regardless considering so many movies on this list will affect the production.

Transformers: Dark Of The Moon

10 Flicks: Awesome Upcoming Superhero Movies 2011

Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen was terrible.

Click here to find out why Transformers 3 won’t suck.

I’m so excited to see more giant robot action on the big screen. Everything I’ve read about the film gives me more and more confidence that they will erase the memory of The Fallen from my mind.

I was so excited to see that movie and I was shattered when the credits rolled.  I wish it wasn’t the case but it’s true.  However, I’ll never give up on a franchise easily.

I’ll be in line on day 1 for this blockbuster event… In 3D.

The Transformers are back!  I loved the Superbowl commercial!  This is probably my most anticipated movie of the summer thus far!

Superman

[Update] Henry Cavill has officially been announced as the new Superman.  Nice!

Handing the keys to the Superman franchise over to Christopher Nolan was genius.  The guy simply knows how to tell a good story.

He’s easily my favorite directors right now and having his name attached instantly puts this film at the top of the list.

Then…

He went out and hired Zak Snyder to direct the movie with a screenplay written by David Goyer…

You hear that?  That’s the sound of the best Superman adaptation of all time.

Yes… I’m prepared to make that statement.

Get ready for a gritty slow motion filled adventure featuring one of the most iconic heroes in history.

The Dark Knight Rises

[UPDATE] Catwoman and Bane! Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy are confirmed as the infamous villains in The Dark Knight Rises

The Dark Knight is my favorite superhero movie in the history of the world.  Nothing against the amazing Batman Begins but The Dark Knight is THE definitive Batman movie.

This third and presumably final Batman film that Nolan will give us will pull out all the stops and raise the stakes like never before.

I like to think that he had a plan the entire time and was always building towards this third chapter.  Whether that’s true or not may never be revealed but I have no doubt Mr. Nolan has a few surprises in store for us.  It saddens me to think about his vision for The Joker and how he may have carried over to this film.

It’s a shame we won’t get a chance to see Heath Ledger’s wonderful work on screen again.  The word ‘legendary’ comes to mind.

The next villain that Bruce Wayne faces will definitely have some giant shoes to fill.  Yet, somehow, I truly believe he/she will.

There’s no way this movie will fall flat even with the nearly impossible expectations people like me have.

I have a feeling this film will complete one of the greatest trilogies ever.

Which movie are you anticipating?  Are there several?

It truly is a good time to be a fan of superhero movies!
