The Post 2012 Short Film Award | The Athletic Nerd Independent Film Blog

When I created The Post, I really had no idea it would turn into a weekly showcase of fantastic shorts.  The series regularly focuses on features, documentaries and indie projects as well but short films tend to dominate.  For the first time, I thought I would recognize some of my personal favorites.  In doing so, I’m happy to announce The Post Short Film Award.

These shorts could have been produced years ago but the fact is I didn’t see them so they qualify.  I went through tons of short films and a years worth of Posts and came up with the following nominees:

THE NOMINEES

SIGHT

THE ESCAPE

BEAR

ADUMU

PATHS OF HATE

DREAM GIVER

DETOUR

ONE MORE BEER

RUIN

PATHS OF HATE

I loved Paths of Hate.  It’s a brilliant animation that consistently entertaining and features amazing design.  Add to that a worthwhile message and you’ve got the first ever winner of The Post Short Film Award.  Congratulations to director Damian Nenow and his team.  You can visit the official site here.

VICTOR HUGO BEATS DISNEY AND MARVEL

Rumors were circulating this week that an animated Marvel movie is in the works over at The Mouse House.  Geeks everywhere have their fingers crossed that Pixar may be involved but at this point, it’s up in the air.  Having said that, talented 3D artist Victor Hugo created this image of Tony Stark that’s absolutely brilliant.

Makes you wonder about the possibilities of a Disney/Marvel/Pixar team up doesn’t it?
