15 Movies To Look Forward To For The Rest Of 2013 | July - December Movie Preview

JULY – DECEMBER 2013 MOVIE PREVIEW

It’s hard to believe 6 months of 2013 has come and gone.  It’s been a fantastic year for movies thus far but there are tons of amazing films on the way.

COUNTDOWN | January – June 2013 Movie Review Round Up & Rankings

COUNTDOWN | 44 Movies To Look Forward To In 2013

Here are 10 movies I’m looking forward to the most:

15. ENDER’S GAME

October 25th

I don’t know a lot about this property but, like The Hunger Games, it’s hard to ignore when so many people love the material it’s based upon.

14. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

November 20th

I wasn’t a giant fan of the original but I’m curious about the sequel regardless.

REVIEW | The Hunger Games

13. PARANORMAL ACTIVITY 5

October 25th

I’ve written a lot about the entire Paranormal Activity franchise.  The fourth installment was the first I didn’t enjoy at all.  Let’s hope the 5th doesn’t rely on the same scares and actually advances the mythology.

12. KICK ASS 2

August 16th

The first film was over the top but it had it’s moments.  We’ll see how Jim Carrey’s recent decision affects the film leading up to it’s release.

REVEW | Kick Ass

11. INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS

November/December

It’s hard not to get excited for another movie from the incredibly talented Coen Brothers.

10. THE MONUMENTS MEN

December 13th

Matt Damon, George Clooney, John Goodman, Bill Murray, Jean Dujardin and more…  The cast alone is worth a top 10 mention.

9. THE WOLVERINE

July 26th

I seriously hated X-Men Origins: Wolverine but this movie has a very good chance of erasing that movie’s existence from my mind.

8. PRISONERS

September 20th

A fantastic looking drama with an impressive cast.

7. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET

November 15th

Martin Scorsese reunites with long time collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio in what looks like one of the best films of 2013.

6. THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG

December 13

I can’t wait to go back to Middle Earth!

4. ELYSIUM

August 9th

An impressive looking following up to District 9 by director Neill Blomkamp

3. GRAVITY

October 4

One of my most anticipated movies of the year.  I can’t wait to see this.

2. THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Top 5 Moments: The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug Trailer #1

The first chapter of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy was a fantastic return to Middle Earth but not without a few problems here and there.  Still, returning to Middle Earth was inspiring and visually stunning.

In the end, I think my expectations were far too high.  I loved The Lord of the Rings trilogy but, even though I wasn’t blown away by An Unexpected Journey, I’m excited to see more.

Thankfully, if this trailer is any indication, the majority of my minor complaints have been left behind.  The Desolation of Smaug looks awesome.  Here are 5 of my favorite moments from the film’s first trailer:

5.  THE SCENERY

The sweeping wide shots of this series are breathtaking and they get better with every film.  Middle Earth has never looked so good.

4.  LEGOLAS

It’s always nice to see an old face especially that of an immortal elf.  I wonder if he’ll have a ‘Leggy’ moment in this film though they can’t top the Mumakil sequence…  Can they?

Top 5 Moments: The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug Trailer #1

3. AZOG

I’m a big fan of this villain.

Top 5 Moments: The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug Trailer #1

2.  WAS THAT AN EARTHQUAKE?

Obviously, this moment leads directly to #1 on this list but seriously, I’m very excited about seeing Smaug in action.

Top 5 Moments: The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug Trailer #1

1. SMAUG!

Finally!  We get a glimpse of Smaug the Dragon.  It’s not the most revealing look but I’ll take anything at this point.  Next step…  Smaug’s voice must be revealed.  With Benedict Cumberbatch behind the beast, Smaug will be menacing indeed.

44 Movies To Look Forward To In 2013 | 2013 Movie Preview

A NEW YEAR BEGINS.  A GREAT YEAR FOR MOVIES!

Movie sites world wide are posting lists of movies they can’t wait to see in 2013.  Last year I realized that, if I did the same, my list would be identical to many film fans out there.  I decided to try something different.  So I collected lists from around the web and devised a scoring method to rank the movies mentioned in the lists.

It’s simple.  For this year’s movie preview I used 16 lists from big sites as well as smaller blogs.  These articles had to rank 2013 movies from 10-1.  I gave 10 points to every movie that was given the top spot, 9 points for second down to 1 point for 10th place rankings.  Total points were sorted and the result was 44 movies to look forward to in 2013!
